Many happy memories as an ex pat living in New Zealand, of Bury Beer Festival. Sticky floors and bearded gentlemen, black peas and a ploughmans and of course copious amounts of real ale and not a drop of heineken in sight. Even the kiwi wife found beers to savour and wobble through. I still have a programme from 10 or 11 years ago listing my comments on each ale. You can tell which was tried first as you can read the reviews, but as the tasting progressed, the writing becomes a scrawl. My favourite review simply states, "yes" in a very dodgy hand!
Will be sure to time my next visit to The old Mother Land with another Bury Beer Festival. A brilliant weekend in the heart of Black Pudding Land. I miss it madly.Garry
