The dates for Manchester Food & Drink Festival 2002 are 3rd to 13th October. The Chorlton Fringe bit is the out of the centre, irreverant bit, comprising of independent traders. No big chain cookie cut outlets. They have the money but lack imagination. We have low funds, little time but big ideas.

We've had a couple of meetings so far, and hopefully all of last years participants will be on board. Others have been invited and they might respond.

So before October....
The World Cup in June. Up at 0700 hours to watch live football from Japan and Korea. Cans of lager and bar snacks for breakfast.

Sunday 30th June Beech Road Festival.
Chorlton's big street party.

Wimbledon tennis. Everybody wants strawberries and a British winner but just gets imported fruit and another glorious defeat.

If Channel 4 got their act together we could all enjoy the Tour de France in July. It'll be Eurosport as well I think.

25th July - 4th August Commonwealth Games in Manchester. This is taking a lot of public money so any big cheques to the Food and Drink Festival are doubtful this year.

Coming at this site before October
Grow Your Own Groceries - the surest, cheapest way to get organic food.
Alternate Technology - cook your food using a dishwasher, a haybox cooker and on a sunny day make your own solar cooker from materials you already own. Loads of little video clips of what it's like to live and shop in Chorlton. Lots of promises let's see if we can fill your browser.

Meantime you can email to office@chorltonfringe.com
The quickest and easiest way to post news is this service. We recommend it.
